A synopsis should establish goals, causes and outcomes, then connect them to the current scene. Whether the captain survives a duel affects the choice between “defeated” and “killed.” A successful rescue may earn sincere praise, while a reckless mistake may prompt a sarcastic “Brilliant. Just brilliant.” The relevant scene and character intent must support that choice. A summary helps find this evidence; it does not replace the dialogue, branch conditions or full source.

Group the reference by chapter or quest, recording key events, participants, motives, outcomes and source locations. For branching stories, identify the route and trigger so mutually exclusive events are not presented as a single sequence. Mark when relationships change or identities are revealed; information revealed later should not distort an earlier line or form of address.
